    Right,

Due to the number of locked threads recently and the number of new posters since the start of the championship, this here is to discuss what actions I'm going to take from now on.

It's at the stage now where I've been told that due to the shit going on, folks don't want to read or visit this forum.

    Golden Rule
    Flukey wrote:

^^^ That sez it all really.

    Fact:
Dublin has the biggest population and the biggest fanbase. No ifs, buts or whatever.

It's a given and henceforth arguing for or against it will result in a week ban.

    Fact:
Every county has their 'sunshine' fans, not just Dublin.

A week ban for arguing it.

    Fact:
Ulster football can be physical but they can also play football. Just because your team was beaten does not allow you to attack the entire Ulster way of football.

    You are not Spillane.

Week ban for bitching about Ulster's style of football.

    Fact:
Tickets are going to be at a premium. Nothing we can do about it. The GAA have their way of doling out tickets for matches and it's been that way for many a year.

No you can't buy a Dublin ticket from ticketmaster and IMO shouldn't be able to buy any ticket

minimum 2 week ban for the use of 'scumbag'
    > I don't care in what context. I'm tired of seeing it thrown around in relation to players and teams. If you can't debate the sport without dragging down the tone of the conversation you're not worth having around imo.

Ban may be increased at mods discression.

Repeat offenders will be perm banned
    > It means more than one ban and you're on very thin ice folks. It will be at me and my fellow mods discression.

2 week ban+ for potentially slanderous posts and accusations about players, officials and teams etc.
    > we're not a rumour mill here. At least state it's a rumour; DO NOT present it or insinuate it's a fact.

    ******

This is an open discussion so if you are not happy with the above measures, post here and discuss them like adults.

In fairness, people should feel free to bitch about ticket allcoations.

Just because it's been done that way 'for many a year' doesn't mean it is right.

If people don't bitch, then things don't get changed. Trust me the GAA boyos in Croker pop there head in this forum every now and again..... so if there is something fundamentaly wrong with GAA administration or procedure, then I think they are fair game.

Ok, the ticket bitching I threw in at the end without thinking it thru.

If that was the only point you had a problem with Culchie, I take that to read as the rest are ok?

Yes the rest is fair enough tbh.

Can we put a ban on James Reilly threads as well? :)

Fair play Kaimera. This is an excellent board with some very good posters. The mindless repetition of the same old 'banter' drags the board down to a level where it's very tiresome. A bit like some other GAA forums that I can't be bothered with anymore. I think it's a good idea to try and keep the discussion constructive.

    :)

Like has been said, it's tiresome at this stage when the same points are beaten over the head repeatedly.

    I do try :)

I'd of thought no threads about Dublin at all would be a better idea :D

Ah, can't cut off the biggest fan base now can I? :p

just thought I'd throw it in.

Hopefully everybody will read the points at the top of this thread!

I have been posting on this forum for over 2 years, and it seems that this year a large number of threads have been locked, and some bans have been handed out, even to the point where a regular poster in Waylander got pissed off and was banned! The constant fighting over the same point has gotten tiresome and has put me off of posting in particular threads in this forum, that could be the only explanation for not updating the hurling pools ;)

But I do hope that after a while these "restrictions" can be relaxed, as I like nothing better than bitching about Dublin, or Ulster football :D It would be a shame if the banter and civil disagreements that we had before were a thing of the past thanks to a few idiots!

lol. I agree with all your points above. Good move. The board is better discussing GAA than arguing the same things over and over.

The problem here is that noone ever disagreed with this to my knowledge. What was said was:

Relative to the population Dublin are the worst supported team in Ireland when you look at figures for league etc games. This of course may be attributed to several factors and doesn't mean Dublin has any less people at league etc games then other counties, its just relatively speaking.
    Fact:
Every county has their 'sunshine' fans, not just Dublin.

A week ban for arguing it.

And what about arguing the fact that when you look at league games and then look at the sunshine support that arrives for latter stages that Dublin has a much much higher number of sunshine supporters then other counties. Again, multiple factors cause this but its still a fact.

Thess are the kind of arguements that are leading to threads being closed and people banned! I am not agreeing or disagreeing with you! But this arguement would go around in circles and people would get more and more pissed off with each other, so maybe we could leave it for now!

First of all Im shocked to here Waylander has been banned.... much findout what happened. Odds on I agreed with him...but rules are rules.

I have not been posting on boards so much because of work comittments but for the 3-4 years I have been here, There is one thing that has pissed me off to no end.

The crap about Dublin hype and media attention and so on.... Please can we knock that silly arguement on the head.

To be honest, there's plenty of other Crap re Northern teams, etc that falls into the silly argument bucket, so don't feel so bad.

Most of that is fine Kaimera. I do think that online ticket sales are a good idea, though not for the final of course. Certainly up to that it is handy for a lot of fans, including the genuine ones.

I don't know what Waylander said, but from my time posting here he has always been around and a good contributor. Maybe a reconsideration on that one is needed. We don't want to lose people. This thread has set down and clarified ground rules. I am sure Waylander, as the rest of us, will have no problem complying.

We are all GAA fans. I posted an extensive thread in the Bad News 4 Dub Fans thread to that effect, which I am sure most if not all of us will agree and identify with. So let our love of the games unite us, not divide us. Only the colour of our shirts differ.

Cheers Al and Flukey but the ban was merited, better leave it at that or I'll find myself in more trouble:) . I have always enjoyed coming to this and a couple of other fora on boards to break up the working day but sometimes the anti dublin sentiments expressed here get to me. I have always been one to call a spade a spade and make no apologies for that. I will try to be more diplomatic in the future. In my defence I tried to ignore most of the Dublin threads this summer but sometimes you just cant help getting sucked in.

    That time of year again.

I'm not sure what it is tbh..maybe the number of new faces on board I dunno but it's almost a year since this sticky went up and everyone was doing quiet well with it.

They all seem fair to me.
Regarding Ulsters style, as far as i can see every county has their more "physical" days.. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,307 ✭✭✭cruiserweight

How about a ban on potentially slanderous rumours and accusations about player, officials and teams etc. Earlier this year there were a lot of people saying one particular player was a wife beater, there were rumours about this which were denied by the player and his wife. Mud sticks and these types of rumours do nobody any favours. If you do insist on posting things like that up say it is a rumour instead of presenting it as fact, or giving the appearance that it is fact.

For example I have heard of two inter different county hurlers assaulting people when drunk. These were just rumours and never reported etc. But I would never post them up as fact.

Who were the 2 player Cruiserweight? ;) Joking of course. The wife beating thing, i dont think anyone particularly said he did it did they? I thought someone just made a reference to the song about it. Either way, i agree with you anyway.

I don't remember exactly but I seem to remember comments like "wife-beating scumbag" and "sure he beats his wife". They may not be actual qoutations, but they certainly give the impression.
