Does anyone have a service manual for a "compaq evo N1020V", or better any ideas how to tighten the on-board mains power socket on one, there is to much "play" on mine and power continually disconnects.

    Ta in advance.

Is this it and is this the connector thats causing you trouble?

Thats the one, but I cant open that file, its the mains power supply that keeps dropping not internal power, its like someone unplugs the mains everytime. I'm sure this is a popular fault with laptops.

Ah I see, sorry I'm very much asleep right now. No chance your lappy is still under warranty?

The link I gave you should work, the manual is split into two files. Download the first part and then click the number 1 across from where it says "Multipart". You should be able to extract the file using Winrar after that.

could it be one of those trip switch plugs that you need?
Mine used to do that all the time until I got the old MasterCube trip protector.

Worth a look I guess, but I think that the power jack just isnt getting a grip to the internal socket on the laptop, causing it to disconnect., I was thinking of putting some solder on there.
