This might be better suited to After Hours or perhaps Weddings/Marriage even.

    Get her a pet?

You want to do something different? How on earth is anyone on boards.ie going to know what is dfferent to you.

Your together 5 years, surely you know what would suit your partner much more than anyone on baords.ie

If you can't think of anything or have to ask an Internet forum, then I feel sorry for your partner.

Jees u guys r harsh! The poor chap is just looking for some opinions!
Tony, maybe a girly pampering day? or is there something that you did or went to on ur first date that you could repeat? I love when my man remembers small things that we used to do or say at the start, its so sweet!

I was looking for an unusual present and was wondering if anyone had any ideas its not an unbelievable question. If you have nothing of value to add then why bother posting. I swear people like you on boards really annoy me, complete w**ker.

Thanks to everyone else who posted though and apologies for placing it in the wrong forum.

How can anyone advise you on something which is 'unusual' if they don't know what is 'usual' to you.

    Reported for abuse and insinuation.

Maybe treat your partner to a day in a health spa or something but if you want something together, as biko suggested a picnic would be nice. Find a nice area that no one else goes and enjoy yourself.

Tony255, abuse like that will get you banned from here.

Bluetonic, you didn't need to respond if you had nothing to help the user. That is all.

Doesn't anyone agree thats its a little weird asking complete strangers for ideas for a gift which is different and unusual without giving some sort of pointer as to what the norm may be?

Suppose Christmas isn't far away and we'll have the what should I get my sister/brother/wife/boyfriend/dog/cat/etc.., threads popping up all over the place!

I wonder how these people manage to make it out of bed in the morning.

are you engaged or married ?

If not and you truley love the girl, get a nice ring. The spa idea is a good one. but get it for two, so one of her friends can go with her.

Im afraid i cant be much more help then that, as ive always been completly useless and anniversary presants :/

I agree that some general interests and background could help proceedings somewhat, but even without them he can still get some fairly decent general suggestions. Also, suggesting that he does not know what his partner likes or that she should be pityed (SP?) because he is asking for suggestions to do something slightly out of the ordinary is a little OTT.

Why not rent out a boat and feck off out to the middle of the secluded ocean and I dunno...go fish?

What about a tiffany's item of jewellery, delivered by Elvis, riding on the back of the Loch-Ness monster?
    Thats pretty unusual.
