I have a serious pet hate. You go to a website which needs you to log in (all good ones). You put in your username and tab to the password. The website decides to fully load up? and puts the focus back into the username box. You then type half your password into the username box before you realise what has happened. GRRR leave my focus alone.

Grrr ... I know what you mean, this used to be a big problem for me when I was on dial-up. Now with ADSL, pages are all loaded before I get the chance :D

Edit: The tab key makes things faster, usually.

Ah yeah....get it off yer chest I say. Maybe we should have a dedicated rant thread.
I'm f**king sick of double clicking installer files for people who are too frightened to do it themselves tbh.
    I wish windows was cheaper.
I wish it was easier to learn linux.
I wish that there were more native linux games (though I love that UT* and quake* run on linux).
I hate the constant CPU socket changing.

come on lads....get it off yer chests!!!!

-People putting their own phone number in for dial up access instead of 1892blahblah
-People thinking an old pc with windows 95 should work for 10+ years but change their car every 2-3 years...
-People who above entrust those type of pc's with their entire business accounts package....
    - Eircom anything & everything (support or lack of,their broadband prices, etc)
    - NTL Broadband(!)
For now thats enough.....gimme till the end of the day and I'll have more probably the way things are going!

    - Optical mice. Great advance, on paper. Till you buy one and the pointer goes El Nutso every 30 seconds. Now these awful things are so pervasive you cant get ball mice anymore
    - Broadband modems that inexplicably lose the internet connection and have to be physically restarted.
    - Anything to do with DELL

When People find out you are a "computer whiz kid" and you get to put 160cds on a crap Philips MP3 player that only supports windows media player:mad:

When people think that just because they have a 256mb graphics card they are leet, even though thier card is a Radeon 9250 with 256mb of crap ram. or when people think the quality of a PC depends on how many gigs of storage it has...

People who think they know a lot about computers, its painful listening to them...

    Fanboys

    Internet explorer

    Norton Antivirus / firewall

    High end processer prices

Irelands prices compared to US prices

    and macs:p

I hear ya. Apparently using a white piece of paper as mousepad helps but I dont know as I just use the laptop touchpad now.

Or you have to call over to help them coz 'their internet is broken', usually coz of all the spyware they got when they downloaded pr0n.

What also really annoys me is when people (friends or family even) think that because you "like" computers you must want to spend 2-3 hours cleaning up that virus ridden, spyware infested mahcine that turns out you had to do a XP repair on after all those scans anyways and then reinstall their edonkey so they can fu&% it all up again for you to fix in 2 months time...but sure he loves it! its a great hobby!

Oh yes getting "volunteered" to fix friends of your parents computer. "Sure he won't mind, will you Ruu?" Spending the whole night fixing a computer when you could be out with mates or whatever. :) Ah don't mind it too much but it happens too often.

    ....

I've never had that problem with optical mice in years of using them.

I hate people who go out and buy a PC and then don't bother learning how to use it. They just sit there looking at it saying over and over that they don't know anything about them. It's the equivalent of going out and buying a car and not learning how to drive.

That pretty much is my biggest pet peeve. Because none of my mates can tell their arse from their elbow when it comes to anything technology related you automatically become tech support for absolutely anything, be it for clearing malware and spyware off a pc to helping them pick which mp3 player to buy. I don't have a problem helping them out, it just annoys me that they take it all for granted and can never be arsed trying to do something about it themselves.

Anyone who shops in Virgin or HMV who have access to the internet and play.com/cdwow.

They piss me off but then cause me great joy when I laugh at the price they paid for stuff.

Also, people who use demo cds off the front of magazines. Might as well submerge your pc in the bath and switch it on.

I don't see what the big deal with cover CD's is. I've got full version of lots apps from them. Nero, Paint Shop Pro etc.
