Maybe he has the horn built into the seat? :O

Back to the topic... The drives me mad too and the folks who do it are completely oblivious to it.

That sort of sh1t kills me - I used to have a yellow box at the top of my road. The road was resurfaced recently and the yellow box is gone, and tbh, the difference is negligible. Muppets. Yellow box or not there is always some muppet blocking up the whole show. Sometimes I wish I had a baseball bat.................

Obviously a set up, usually Hicks travel in larger groups and one of them would have taken a bullet to see if it was a real gun, I doubt real Hicks would know how to use a camera either.:)

Now Now mike, as a senior member of boards, you should be setting an example, so next time use the odd * instead of the complete swear word, just to protect our younger more innocent members of course :D:D

    Examples being:

    b*****d
    b**tard
    b'tard

We will get your meaning and feel your pain :p

Nice pic by the way :)

The pic was taken in Gorey (roll on late 2007!) and its a common sight, the really annoying thing is that the tr(f)ucker could clearly see he was'nt going to get across the junction box but inched into it anyway - it ws'nt like traffic came to a sudden halt.

    Mike.

Go down to the northside of the Quays by the Halfpenny Bridge and stand by the pedestrian crosing. You'll be able to take a photograph similar to that practically every time the lights change :) Only difference is that every other photo will have a taxi in it.

Was it Top Gear that did the "Junction Box Attacks" a few years ago; basically, they waited in the middle of London at a busy junction, and everytime someone blocked the junction, about 10 people would run out with big boards saying things like "idiot" and "moron" and surround the car to embarrass the driver into not doing it again! Class!

    Maybe it was Brainiac....

I see this most lunchtimes where the luas crosses Amiens St between Connolly Station and Busaras

Taxi's seem to be the worst offenders.

In my experience of driving trucks, this can easily happen when on the right lane of a busy slow moving two lane road. As a sufficient gap appears in ahead in the heavy traffic. I begin my manoeuvre but when I am half way across the yellow box, a couple of cars dart from the left lane into my space leaving me with no option but to stop illegally on the box. I understand the frustration caused but it is not always the truckers fault.

(I accept that in Mike 65s case it was).

What about those people who stop before the yellow box, wave you on and smile at you, thinking they're doing you a favour ?? W*****s !!

Oh yeah; there's another right-turn up that same road about where the white van is in the picture.

Not the point, I know, but if you were in a hurry... :(

With enough experience would a trucker not anticipate this and stop before the yellow box allowing the cars to pull out - cars that would most likely overtake the truck later on?

My experience of driving a tractor and 30ft trailer:

You could do that, but you may grow old trying to get beyond the yellow box! As Wishbone says, things like it do happen, and it is impossible to avoid at times...

I am referring to cars queing alongside me on my left (not cars pulling out from a side road). I am approaching a yellow box. I know that I need to wait for a gap of approx. 16 metres to open up on the far side. As the space begins to appear and get larger it becomes too irresistible for those small vehicles on my left lane. They simply move ahead and cross in front of me to fill the gap. They are much faster pulling away than a laden truck. It becomes virtually impossible to get a space long enough on the far side of the box in heavy traffic.

And therein lies the root of the problem.

I take your point. I suppose it's really due to the fact that of a lot of car drivers don't take time to consider the extra factors that a driver of a HGV has to consider. I'd also hazard a guess that a lot of car drivers take advantage of the slow speed of a laden truck not realising the problems that it causes further down the traffic queue.

That's judging those car drivers very mildly. I'd use words like "opportunistic" and "ignorant" :)

I also find at some roundabouts I have to straddle two lanes to keep idiots from cutting down the inside and getting squashed.
