    Hi there,

    We are getting mixed messages on whether or not this mpg file can be played on a Mac:

    http://www.gaietytheatre.ie/shows/Riverdance.htm (View Film Clip).

    Could some of you try to play it and let us know if it does/doesn't work?

    Thank you.

    I get a slideshow on the page linked, but the "View Film Clip" button is flat (can't click it)
    iBook G4, using Mozilla Camino FYI

    *edit* by slideshow I mean the JPG / GIF image

    Two ways to play MPG's:

    1. Get DivX for Mac. This comes with a player and also allows you to watch DivX movies in QuickTime.

    2. Get Video LAN Client. It is capable of playing all kinds of things, including music and DVDs.

    Whoever formatted it got it wrong - they need to scale it to 133% in y.

    No.

    You've something weird going on in your code - I get a pop-up window which fails to call the appropriate file - it just says "ready" but nothing gets called. I dunno if you wrote the html or whatever, but your <embed> statement is not written correctly for an mpeg.

    <embed type="application/x-mplayer2"
    pluginspage="http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/Downloads/Contents/Products/MediaPlayer/&quot;
    src="riverdance1.mpg"
    Name=MediaPlayer
    AutoStart=1
    AnimationatStart=0
    TransparentatStart=1
    ShowAudioControls=1
    ShowTracker=0
    ShowDisplay=0
    ShowStatusBar=1
    AutoSize=1
    AllowScan=1
    EnablePositionControls=1
    ShowGotoBar=0
    Width=320
    Height=300
    stretchToFit=1>
    </embed>

    Its not a codec issue, its a coding\website issue, divx is no help.

    2. Get Video LAN Client. It is capable of playing all kinds of things, including music and DVDs.

    Read above. VLC has no provision for embedded video.

    Yep works fine for me. Dual G5 Power Mac, 10.4.7, Safari 2.0.4.
