ClamX Anti-virus; though it's only useful if you're, say, passing files from Windows->OSX->Windows.
No virii for OSX out in the wild yet.

Avast is pretty good. I got rid of mcafee, installed avast and it found over a hundred threats/viruses/worms on my computer. and it updates itself everyday without asking you to download the latest

That is correct. There are no known virii for OS X. So it's no use to install an anti-virus scanner on a Mac, unless, like K.O.Kiki said, you're passing files from OS X to Windows.

I don't quite get what you mean... Anyways: Avast! is a free (for personal use) anti-virus solution for Windows systems.

    Mac + computer virus

Two words that don't come together very often. 'Course there's always a first time although I'm using Mac for 12 years with not one bit of anti-virus ever installed and no virus prob. IMHO I wouldnt worry about it cos you'll soon hear if there's anything major out there.

AVG is recommended to us in work for home use. I've been using it for a couple of years now, and to the best of my knowledge it's caught everything thrown at it.

Just a quick note to those mentioning AVG, THERE IS CURRENTLY NO MAC PORT!
Running AV software through virtualisation is not really a good idea IMO.

Run ClamX. If nothing else it will prevent you possibly forwarding or harvesting Windows viruses.

Don't forget www.macupdate.com (my personal favourite) and www.versiontracker.com

People seem to keep posting "where can I find X or Y" here all the time, and don't seem to know about these sites. If they did, they wouldn't ask.
