Weekend in Ireland

    Hey all,
My girlfriend is heading home from 3 months away in Africa and I want to get away for a weekend...hopefully romantic...somewhere in Ireland. I'll be going from Dublin presumably on a Friday and staying a Friday and Saturday night and back on Sunday sometime in September. As I am a poor college student i think it will be a B&B job unless someone knows of some good deals going on with a hotel.
I was just wondering if people have any recommendations on where to go? I was thinking Galway or Kerry or somewhere but would prefer to keep my driving to a minimum. Any recommendations on things to do, places to stay would be great.
    Thanks a million,

    HK

Why not keep it relatively local and try Co. Wicklow? If you want to keep costs down, petrol will be your biggest expenditure travelling to Kerry!

How about Glendalough, which has scenery to match (or surpass) Killarney and a lot less Americans too! :D From there you can enjoy the Sally & Wicklow Gaps or head further into the county and enjoy Avoca or Aughrim.

Then again, if you've not seen your girlfriend for 3 months, I'm guessing scenery will be the last thing on your mind. ;)

If that's the case, you could just find a B&B in Dublin!

    Thanks for that mikedragon
Well obviously it wont just be scenery but it would be nice to have things to do-go for a nice meal/drink and that. I think i'm going to go to Galway-dont mind that much of a drive and it seems there is a good bit of stuff to do. Might stay in the city one night and possibly the Aran Islands for another-if not do a day trip to Aran!! I met her in Galway for the first time many years ago so it might be an idea to head back to that very spot.
Anyone got any other ideas on things to do in Galway or good places to stay? Was looking at the Jurys Inn in the centre of the city and a few B&B's but its impossible to tell what the B&B's are like from the little pictures given on the websites-mainly www.ireland.ie.
    Cheers
