Hi. I'm just a bit confused with the memory stick things. Do they work like extra memory? We've got a family laptop which is getting a bit packed with all our files and I was wondering if I put our music files (which clog up space) onto a memory stick thing and just left it plugged into the laptop would it work the same as actually having it on the computer?? Any help would be great!

yes, but typically these memory sticks only hold a relatively small amount of information. (say 1/60th of your total space)

What you need is something like this

You plug it in and it pretty much instantly will double or treble your storage capacity.

Or if you don't mind having to plug the external hard drive into a mains socket to use, this model is cheaper, faster & larger.
It's really a question of whether you want portability or size&performance.
