I am hoping to take my fifteen year old son skiing this winter He is a paraplegic wheel chair user with very good balance. As we have never been skiing before we know very little about it. could anyone recomend resorts in europe with spcialist ski instruction and equipment and does anybody know how expensive these trips cam be.

Ive seen a paraplegic ski in Courchevel in France, in a kind of bucket seat from a race car laid back with a single ski underneath arrangement, using two short poles with two short skis attached. The guy doing it was amazing, fantastic balance! Im afraid I cant supply you with any details but you could try the website of the resort http://www.courchevel.com/

By the way the resort itself has very good skiing with plenty of big open easy runs for beginners but its very expensive, without taking any specialised equipment into account.

i have seen disabled skiing on a dvd from a uk organisation called uphill ski club.it looks very exciting and they run tours ex uk but they are quite expensive. I hope to do a diy package to keep the cost down.

Ecole de Ski France do something like this.

The only page they have about it is in French though

    http://www.esf.net/handiski-f.htm

They should have English-speaking guides though.

There was an article in Spinal News, the SIAA mag, a couple years back.

I seem to remember they recommended a resort in Germany which was fully accessible, or at least one hotel.

    This hotel/crew specialise in sit-skiing.

I'm going to look into it right now as I've been threatening to do it for years.
