    Hi,

We are looking to head home for a week at christmas. The cheapest ticket i have seen so far is $540 from boston to london then onto shannon with AA. Aerlingus was $120 more expensive for the dates we want. Will aer lingus be doing any special deals running upto christmas. The dates would be dec 21st till dec 28th.

I havent been since march so december cannot come soon enough for us.

The Christmas period has always been the most expensive time to fly from Boston or NY to Ireland so don't expect any deals.
I always found orbitz.com best for prices so you might want to try that.

There is probably at least one travel agent in one of the Irish neighbourhoods in Boston who specializes in trips back home. You could probably check one of the Boston Irish newspapers, or just ask around in the pub. These agents can get access to seats on charter flights from the package companies and will often beat Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, even booking directly from the airlines.

If you can't find one in Boston, there is one in Philly called Kelly's Travel that have got me some great prices, they are at (215) 624-1364.

As Benedict said, Christmas is peak time and to be honest that price you got actually looked pretty good for that time of year. I'd say the best you could hope to do would be get a direct flight cutting out the London leg for close to the same price. You could get lucky, though.

Is there any way you could expand your trip? The further from Christmas your arrival and departure are, the cheaper it gets.

Thanx Gandhi i will check out the tips you gave.

I talked to my wife and she feels safest flying with aer lingus as she is nervous of flying. These terror alerts only make it worse for people like her who have a genuine fear of flying. We have flown many times with aer lingus to and from the states and she feels safest with them. So i will prob book with them. Making my wife feel safe and the shortest time possible is more important.

The reason why i started this thread was aer lingus had special deals to ireland at about $400 return for the fall. So i was thinking maybe they will have them for xmas. But not too worry.

We have already told my family that we are coming home for xmas. It was either ireland or arizona for christmas and ireland definately wins. We left ireland in march so this will be our first trip back to the homeland.
