    Where are contracting vacancies advertised?
Im working with some at the moment that are on a lot more than me and they're pants really. I have to redo their work even sometimes....
    Thanks

Those contractors may be "pants", but at least they know how to use the interweb. ;)

Contracting vacancies are advertised by agencies on the net. For example:
    http://www.irishjobs.ie
    http://www.monster.ie
    http://www.jobserve.co.uk

The above are general job sites. Try using Google to see if there are sites more specifically suited to your particular area of expertise.

If you do end up getting a contract - the agency may be able to advise you as to how to set yourself up as a contractor.

thanks for that hilly billy but ive already searched those and found none relevant...

i might fire off an email to an agency and see what they say.

legs - rtl asic design isnt rocket science but you'd need to have at least a year or more real design work before you'd get a job. No-one will hire without it i feel. Some of the interviews i've done would be almost exam level. If you did verilog or vhdl in college then go for it. There should be a few vacancies. WIth the way the college's are going the number of us are going down year by year and the salaries are shooting up. Its great :)

Have a look at these search results.

If there's nothing there why not ask one of the contractors what agency he/she works with & contact them directly.
