The right eye seems to be out of focus. I dont think the composition works.

Try getting above the subject, just above eye level.

Btw, if you wanna make a diffuser, wrap some greaseproof paper around the flash..

The idea of the subject in the mirror is great but my eye actually seems to be drawn between the two and ends up in the empty expanse in the middle of the frame. The nearer eye is out OOF too, instead of the further one. I know there's no rules, and even if they were they'd be made to be broken but sometimes sticking to the tried and tested methods will work better.
The light is nice and diffused, there are some mental diffuser set ups around that cost nothing to make, just use your imagination and have fun :)

I think the lightning is good, but as others said, the DOF is a bit too thin here causing "blurryness" on the face. Composition wise Shrim is right, it's not a great composition, her eyes are in the middle of the frame (middle of the height of the picture) try to have her eyes about 2/3rd up the frame and a bit more to the left of the picture as well (rule of thirds applies here). Keep 'em coming, we need to see more of your work :D

I think the lighting is bad.
What is the focal point of the image? It should, generally, be the girl's eyes, one of which is out of focus.
The window in the background is very distracting and there is just no need for the reflection in the mirror.
With portraits, you'll find that the rule of thirds generally just doesn't work out well.
You said you used a flash?
Also, you've cropped her hair and have included a good amount above her head. Personally, I would have moved back a bit further, but generally, I would have taken the image in portrait rather than landscape.

Sure, have another dig at it :)

Nice one sinecurea ,I've books here that I've read some of ,but a lot of books seem to be just photographers boasting about their work and I don't want to end up taking someone elses photos.
Forgive me for not knowing the very basics ,better to hear it from the horses mouth though.

This is probably more of a portrait ,I hope I have the eyes where they should be.

Another one that worked well for me are those polystyrene coffee cups. I was badly stuck, and necessity being the mother of invention, gave it a shot. It works brilliantly.
It does make the flash work harder though.
