I'm reposting this now as I was told August is a better time.... and my fathers birthday is very soon....

My father has been a life-long lover of Rugby.... but hasn't been able to play it for quite a few years now.
I just thought recently that as a Birthday present for him it'd be great to take him to an Ireland match.

Could anyone tell me how I can go about finding and buying tickets to an Ireland Rugby match?
Ideally I'd like to get to a game in dublin... is anyone off-loading their PA tickets?

I don't want to use ticket touts - I dispise them!!!

    Any help is appreciated greatly.

    Daryl

Well you just missed your chance to get a few tickets for the Autumn internaitionals which are the only ones that go on sale to the general public. You can join the supporters club for a year for 50 euro and your name will go into a lottery (as I understand it) to get tickets for the non championship games. It's a small price to pay. The tickets for this autumns games went on sale last week to the supporters club and have all gone now. (www.irfu.ie)

The only way to get tickets for the 6N legally is through the clubs or through a corporate hospitality invite. Joining a club can be pricey in Dublin. The trick is to get a club that is big enough to have a decent ticket allocation but not too big that your chances of getting one are about zilch.

Of course if you know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody else......

OP, unfortunately, Mad Finn's last sentence sums it up perfectly really. IRFU Supporter's Club members were invited to access the internet to buy stand tickets for the games. A maximum of two tickets per game were allowed. All sold out really quickly. The terraces for the autumn internationals will have a restricted attendance permitted because there'll be bucket seats in place. Those tickets were distributed among the rugby clubs. So talk to people in the clubs - who may be able to sort you out with a ticket. Otherwise, there'll probably be tickets hanging around on the day of the games (especially the pacific islands one). There'll be decent supporters (not touts) with tickets in Jury's near lansdowne road usually:cool:

I have not yet gone to an international match and seen no tickets for sale outside the ground from genuine (non-tout) supporters. If all else fails, you could go down to Lansdowne and hang around the barrier where they check tickets.

The other wasy is to join a club, and put your name down for tickets. AFAIK clubs only get their allocation a few weeks before the game. Smaller clubs are better, as you get to know the ticket officer, and generally have a better chance. Big clubs like Clontarf have far too many members of long standing looking for tickets.

Best bet is to join a club outside Dublin, where there are less people willing or able to travel to games, and consequently not such a heavy demand on tickets. (the membership fee will be lower too).
