Electric Picnic - Photography Policy??

    Hi,

I am trying to find out Pod/Aiken Promotions' policy for bringing cameras into the Festival for Electric Picnic?
Specifically a digital-SLR, obviously normal digitals are fine but I've had issues bringing my digitalSLR to a festival
in Spain before, as security assume it's for press-related photography (Due to size) and that I'd require a press pass!
Even though it's just for personal use. I've tried contacting Aiken but no reply.

Any info about this would be great :)

    Thanks,
    Ciarán

Digital SLR can take professional quality pictures so the official line would be you'd need a press pass to do that but you'd be able sneak that into a festival no bother.

Yea I'd say you'd have serious problems if you carried it in around your neck as they will ask for the press pass. But as said, stick it in with your gear/beer and you should be fine.. until they spot you using it ;)

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. Also thats a lot costwise to be carrying into a festival. I wouldnt risk it in case someone confiscates it or it gets damaged.

Related can anyone suggest a half decent compact digital camera for gigs?

    Thanks for that!

I presume they'll search bags on way in from Campsite to Festival grounds??

They did last year. Theres rumours there'll be less of it this year as there are no day tickets but I wouldnt take the risk.

You have the problem at the main gate usually, im talking about Oxegen though. They had signs saying 'no cameras/recording' equipment.
I wouldnt risk it with a D-SLR but many times ive hidden a camera down my front beneath the belt, so to speak. They never frisk you there for obvious pervy reasons.
Or a trickier one is right under the armpit, you can hide it without it looking 'lumpy', definitely more skill needed with this one tho.
