Have I a dodgy LCD on D70s

I'm the excited owner of a new D70s camera - I have taken over 500 photos and I have just noticed when viewing pictures on the LCD that random blacks spots flash on the white areas of the pictures. The spots may not cover the whole white area but seem to flash only on white areas. Is this normal or should I have the camera checked? The picture downloads ok to my PC - I haven't tried printing anything yet so I'm not sure how they'd look.

Those black spots are flashing to tell you that you've blown out the highlights in the white bits - ie, they are too white and have no detail left in them at all. If you look at the histogram for those pictures, you'll see a spike at the far right hand side, I expect.

Nothing wrong with your LCD, though!

Have a look at the manual under "highlights".

While you are reviewing your shots push the selector (the 4 way thumb button) to the right or left.

When the flashing occurs, press the left or right keys to flick through the 4 review mode screens.

Thanks for all your replies, as you probably guessed by now I'm only a beginner. It's great though that the camera is all right, I haven't it with me at the moment so I'll check later.
    Thanks again.
