I forget

    Hi,
For some reason one of the email accounts I have set up, and have had set up for the past few months on Thunderbird, is acting up.

I have two @ poker dot ie accounts and they both connect to the same server etc, however, one of them is failing to authenticate saying the sending of the password failed. The other is fine, and my @ eircom dot net one is fine too, which is set to mail1.eircom.net, so different to the poker ones.

I forget how to go about changing or checking the passwords through thunderbird. I had a look at the account settings but don't see anything about the passwords.

What could have happened that has made the authentication fail suddenly? Maybe I did something without realising it, not sure.

Also, I remember with Outlook, you used to be able to set an actual password to open up thunderbird, at the moment, all I have to do is click the icon and it takes me to the above accounts where I can look at all the emails freely. Is there any way to put a password on it so you have to put in a password to look at my accounts, but you can still set up a new account for a different user (even though I wont have to) etc.?

    Any feedback appreciated:)

To view your passwords in Thunderbird is Tools->Options->Privacy->Passwords and then View Saved Passwords. Are you using eircom as your ISP?

With regards to putting a password on thunderbird, why not just use Windows' built in security? i.e. log on as you, and use ctrl+alt+del to lock your screen or log out when you move away from it.

Thanks for the replies. I got to view the passwords in Thunderbird alright, but I don't see where I can change them:confused:

RE the windows security, yeah I suppose that's good enough. I do that already, but it doesn't do it when it starts up and I don't really want it to, I don't really want to have to do it for thunderbird either actually:rolleyes:

Remove the passwords. Next time it tries to access the mail server it will prompt you to enter one. You can then select to save it.
