About 15 minutes ago someone spilt a drink around the base of my laptop (Latitude C600). Now it kept going for about 10 minutes then a blue screen with something about hardware and windows is shutting to avoid any futher damage. Then it cut, I powered it on again and same blue screen after windows loaded. Now it powers on, blank black screen, the powers off. When I removed the CD module there was liquid on the bottom of it and there is a smell of alcohol from the fan vents and off the fan its self. I have removed the Battery and CD Module and put the laptop in the hotpress. Is there anything else I can do, as I hope it aint f**ked as I can't afford another nor can I afford to get it repaird.

Leave it in the hot press for at least 24hrs and keep your fingers crossed.

Be prepared for the worst though.

You really shouldnt have powered it on again.

I got lucky THIS TIME! - I left it in over night, took it out this morning everything bone dry. I sussed out the problem, the CD drive module had moisture but a night out of the laptop in the hotpress sorted it. I powered it on an hour ago, safe moded it, restored the system and reinstalled some stuff onto it and it's working fine. I have another here spare for parts so if worst came to worst...

The fan still smells of budweiser, but i dont think there is much if any major damage done. But to be on the safe side I will leave it idle for an hour later to see how it goes

Back up anything you have saved on it.

Go to the consumer advice or mobiles thread, there's lots of nightmare stories of liquid damage to phone, it can take awhile for the liquid to do it's damage.
