Ive had my 360 for a while now and i'm starting to notice a few problems, just wondering if anyone heard of them before or has any tips to fix.

One of my games cracked inside the console. bought tiger woods 2006 and it was in the console since I bought it, a week or so ago, it doesnt boot or the dvd playback menu comes up and says insert into a xbox 360, so I take it out of the
console for the first time and there is a 2 inch crack running from the centre of the disk twards the edge. This ever happen to anyone? what did you do?EA wants money to replace the disk but im not happy about paying. would you be?

My xbox also wont connect to xbox live anymore, all the tests say confirmed except for xbox live. It also take about 5 mins to sign into the console(not sure if thats related) reset all the settings, nothing has changed on my network, dsl router has the port enabled for xbox live, unplugged everything etc. strange thing is, it can pick up that there are updates available for a game.

    any ideas anyone?
    Cheers

sounds very specific, I think a call to MS tech support will clear some errors up and if they cant they will replace it.

seems that way with Live anyway, what do you make of the disk cracking though?

Disk cracking is a known issue and thats why EA will replace it , its generally caused by moving the console when the disk is in. Most cases cause a skratch, but extreme cases cause cracking.

your live issues sound like a router setting most likely, as a test plug your xbox direct into the modem and nothing else. If thats to much of a hassle add your xbox ip into your routers DMZ.

Also I've heard of a few crack disks, esp when its in there for long periods of time, something to do with the disk heating up so much then cooling down, which overtime can cause a crack like you stated

My NFSMW also from EA cracked within a few weeks of purchase. EA (Scum) wanted €20.00 to replace there faulty product, GAME (SCUM) refused to replace it even though I had the receipt and it was less than 30 days old.

I have since had a fairly decent amount of other games that have had far longer hours in the xbox and I don't accept either what GAME said caused the damage (carelessness removing it from the case) or EA's story (overuse, causing heat expansion/contraction and cracking the disc)

Long story short, neither company has received a positive recomendation or a cent of my cash since, Shame really as I enjoyed the NFS series and Burnout and especially in light of other early releases from different companies having similar problems and replacing faulty discs FOC. Still what do huge companies like Game and EA care about there customers, it's not like my money keeps them in jobs or anything.
