AFAIK it is law to get breaks for a certain amount of time worked.

if you are on the road can you not just take your breaks? I hardly imagine your boss is sitting in the car with you?

If you are on the road, then pull over for 20-30min and take a break. Not a problem unless there is vehicle tracking.

No he is not sitting in the van with me, but i have a certain amount of calls a day i have to get to and i cannot cover them all if i take a break and then my boss is not happy if i miss calls and will load them on the next day so i can't win.I know u are going to say move jobs but it's because of others i have to suffer who will accept anything and do anything.

Explain to your boss that in a normal working day you can get to x amount of calls. If the workload is too much suggest he hires additional part/full time staff.

one other driver just left and has not been replaced and some of his work has been loaded on to us. All i get from him is that the work must be covered and as far as he is concerned thats the end of the matter!

You need to put your foot down. Simple as. Its very unfair what you are putting up with, sounds like your shattered at the end of everyday.

Try talking to him again, explain you can give the clients a much better service if you an give them mre time instead of rushing back and forth.

Failing that get yourself a sick cert and take two weeks off and look around for a new job.

I work for a boss like that, and he is my father. My days usualy involve driving from Thurles to Dublin, Galway or Limerick and multiple sites in each location.
A few of us explained to him it wasn't possible to get to more than 4 sites in Dublin in one day. The work load was split as a result.
Although I'm still often up at 5:30am and never home until 7pm. Hmmmmm.... Maybe I need to talk to him again :D

Tell the interviewer you are still in employment and would prefer if your current employer wasn't contacted unless there was a job offer in line.

Of course not. if tehy like your CV they call you in for an interview. If they don't end of story. Your boss would never be contacted by a potential employer.

I was like that in my old job and I ended up being very sick and depressed. I moved on and it was teh breath of gresh air I needed! Do it. You need to at this point. Why work for someone who views you as a worker bee and nothing more?

When you get a sick cert he is required to pay you. Explain to your doctor that you are stressed (IMO you are), your boss will sh1t himself and won't argue.

The interviewers usually ask you when is best for you. The odd time they will call and say 2pm is that ok, just say if possible can we meet at x time. I used to work my lunch in order to leave early for them.

I wish you the best of luck, let us know how you get on.
