Am thinking of getting a 360, I heard that it is really good on a HD tv, but I don't have one. Is there any need to get one? I don't fancy forking out €600 just for a tv.

You don't HAVE to get a HD TV - I still use a 14" portable TV, or a 17" flat panel monitor to play 360, and it still looks fine.

A 17" monitor and a €10 VGA cable does the HD trick nicely.

Pc Monitor's are all High Def. You can hook up your 360 to your pc monitor using a Vga cable. Thus, gaining High Def gaming.

No good then. You could get a 19" flat screen pc monitor for about €250 and you'd have a grand hd picture. Well worth getting some sort of hdtv as the difference is huge in some games (esp oblivion)

I don't have a HDTV for my 360, but I have played it in my in-laws house with their 40" LCD and it was sweet.
Will definitely upgrade to a big HDTV in the future but standard crappy TV is still worth playing on.

I've ordered a VGA cable to so glad to hear it works well.

Can I just use it as a normal tv except it would just be for the 360?

I dont mind about having the normal stereo as long as the image is in hd... anyway ay help would be great, Im thinking of buying a 360 now.... anyway advice with tv would be great

You dont get a vga cable with the 360.

The 360 doesn't support digital hd video output, hence NO cable for HDMI.

The 360 premium comes with a component hd cables and normal composite y/w/r.

im not sure if you were referring to me irish grumpy but I am talking about a 360 premium, I know they come with a hdmi cable but I was wondering what convertor I need to connect the hdmi to the dvi, or what not...

I was talking to both of you. The premium doesn't come with a hdmi cable. The 360, doesn't support digital hd output. Hence VGA or component HD connections only.

What you need is a female VGA to male DVI convertor.

Yes, through DVI, via an xbox 360 VGA cable and a convertor to allow the vga to connect to you dvi to give you HD.

You can get them in Maplins, I wouldn't imagine it would be more than €6-7.

Man, the tv model you linked in your other thread has a VGA connection

so all you will need is a 360, and a vga cable, no need for a convertor.

Well Im not sure lol, is that a white socket? As there are two white sockets, i knew dvi was one but wasnt sure about other:P

I have a dvi input, its an rgb too, does this input act as the vga input too?

If it has rgb you dont need an special cable, the premium 360 comes with a suitable connection.

o right, but the dvi is an rgb connection also

Why are you confusing yourself? :o

Bottom Line: The 360 premium will connect to your tv, and output HD.

Lets leave it at that ! :)

Your TV doesn't have a VGA connection.

But VGA is technically RGB but rarely called that, what exaclty does your manual say?
