I've just been handed a project in work that's way outside my area of expertise and I'm hoping someone here might be knowledgeable about this technology...

We produce an asset tracking program which utilises Symbol PDT8100 handheld scanners to scan barcodes/accept data entry but we've been having huge problems with the units: a lack of on-board memory, the fact it loses all data if it's switched off and just general reliability.

Does anyone out there know of viable alternatives to this hardware? It must have a barcode scanner, keypad entry and run Windows Mobile.

    Thanks!

sony do pda's that run windows mobile plus they have the integrated barcode scanner on top...had a dell v50 pda but it's another €400 for a bluetooth scanner..then i saw one of the external customers happily going around scanning parts with his pda..couldn't persuade him to swap:mad:
