Each hospital/nursing agency has it's own regulations. But usually they are similar to that of the nurses uniform but in a different colour/style.

The main thing I want to know is what colour and type of shoes are male care assistants usually required to wear. I know female care assistant have to wear navy shoes but do the men? I'm starting a job in a few weeks and the note I was given was fairly general(you have to buy your own shoes), it said get navy shoes but I've never seen a male care assitant wearing navy shoes(it's usually balck shoes) and I can't find anywhere that sells men's navy shoes. Can't be wearing the wrong stuff on the first day.

I did agency Care Assistant work with Nurse on Call and just wore €30 black shoes. If you're doing agency I wouldn't worry about it.

ANA and NOC allow men to wear black shoes, as far as i know. A plain white tunic is usually worn, these come in mens and womens styles available from Arnotts. Nurse on Call will give you one free tunic when you sign up, stocks limited. ANA give you a choice between black or navy slacks, NOC must wear navy slacks. A Navy Cardigan, or Fleece can usually be worn if going outside or on escort duty.

Every hospital has its own colour for in house Care Assistants. Naas is Grey. Tallaght is this weird yellowy kind of colour, i think.

How about the Mater? They haven't told me much about the job at all, I wonder where I'll end up.

Ok I know I started off asking about the uniform but I do have another question, I filled out an occupational health questionaire and found out today that I don' need to have a medical but will I still have to give a blood and urine sample? Doesn't bother me, I'm just curious(and glad I don't have to "turn my head and cough.")

Not exactly where I saw myself when finished school but a permanent job at age 20 isn't bad and there's always mature student stuff.
