I received a speeding ticket last year. I was late in paying it by about a week - went to garda station, was told it was too late to pay that Id have to go to court although he did say hed note that I came in to pay it and was pretty niced about the whole thing.
A guy I work with missed a few payments on a fine and ended up with a hefty fine as a result along with points and a 6 month driving ban - hes appealing but its really made me worry about my own court appearance as a driving ban would mean Id lose my job.
What usually happens in the case of late payment of fines - is it just that Id get a bigger fine or is it more serious. It wasnt that I was avoiding paying it by the way, it was Christmas and I put it on long finger not realising the date for payment crept up so fast.

Please read the forum charter and stickies before posting here again, Jotter.

It is against the rules of this forum to seek or give legal advice. It is the very first point of note in the charter.
