Paye number = Vat number?

    Pretty much as the title states. I asked my employer for the PAYE number (filling out a 12a) and was given a sheet of details, but the closest thing to a PAYE number was the VAT number. Are they the same thing?

    You are filling in Section C of Form 12A and are looking for the "Employers PAYE Registered No."

    The box has space for 8 characters on the form, so see if any thing you employer gave you has 8 characters or less.

    It will be the same as the VAT number but missing the IE bit.

    So... to jump a bit - you're saying that when Revenue process my TR2 for my new company, the VAT number of the Co. will be my PPS number preceeded by IE ??

    The VAT number is 7 numbers and a letter, so it does fit. Thanks guys.

    I'll just use this thread instead of starting another:
    How do I find which tax office to send the form to? I tried ring the number on the help pages with the form, but was told by the computer voice to call back during office hours (which should be now). Is there anyway to look it up online or something?

    Revenue have a locator map on their website - just click on your county and it will give you a list of where to send what
