Changing Car stereo

Just a quick question about changing car radios. A lot of cars now come with remote controls on the steering wheels to control the radios. If you change the radio is it possible to get a new one that would work with the remote controls. And if so how would hyou know if it compatible?

Pioneer sell an optional link do your standard steering remote works the pioneer stereo. Check their website for info.
