"Proper" Classic car wanted for wedding

One of the girls at work is looking for a proper classic for her wedding day - doesn't want the cliche rolls or daimler for the job. Looking for a "real" classic like one of the very early MB or similar.

Obviously the likes of an e-type are out (needs to accomodate 3 people and a dress :p )

    Any help would be appreciated!

I told her to pop along to some of the classic car shows and ask a few owners - but she's away on holiday when Kilbroney is on. Any similar shows on over the next 6 months or so?

    Ta!

    M.

There are lots of shows, checkout the stickie for classic car shows, also the one for classic car clubs, browse their websites, generally they list the shows that they will be attending.

fyi I drove my future wife to our wedding in our Triumph 1300, not exactly flash, but hey it's a vintage car and it didn't cost us anything!

Don't want to rain on your parade but the terms of insurance on most classic cars would specifically exclude their use for hire. Also vintage cars (over 30 years old) are exempt from the NCT unless used for hire. i.e. a club car won't have an NCT so won't be legal for hire.

On the other hand, if a mate were to do you a favour and lend you a car that would be perfectly legal ;-)

How about a Citroen DS - I can put you in touch with owners all over the country if you're into it.

    Here's mine in action

I'm not that into doing it again unless it's Dublin and a weekend, but there are plenty of others who are.

Hi Carlos - I'm totally lost. Have you changed user IDs? Is that '12 a 912?

Hi DS, I'm totally crap at this fourum thing. Yes, I'm sure that I was registered before under another user name, dut I've forgotten it and the password so I'm now Carlosfandango (which is a little private joke). Yep, the '12 is the 912 and as it's Friday, I'm driving it today. It's about ten feet from where I'm sitting, outside in the rain.. In fact, I've been driving it all week. The 911 is just too clean to leave outside my office here in the liberties so it's rarely here.
Apologies for the confusion, hope that you are well. Love that bloody car of yours. jayo.

Ah! Now I know ya! That 912 is something else - i've no idea why I prefer them to the 911, but I do!

Thanks MercMad - it is Malahide church, you must be very devout!
