I was at the Dublin Horse Show yesterday and took a few shots between showers.

the second one is very sharp, action is frozen too must have been a very high shutter was it what processing did you do? I've experienced difficulties trying to get tones etc. righ especially for that colour horse. Pity about the left front hoof being cut out.

I agree about the hoof particularly as it was the only one on the ground! I set the ISO at 400 to give me some latitude with high speeds. The weather was mostly miserable and I kept the camera in the bag.

Please take this as constructive criticism (also it is a matter of tastes)
I think they are a little overprocessed. It looks like you have used
unsharp mask with a low intensity amount and high radius, ie.
contrast sharpening or maybe a layer mask with too high an
opacity in overlay mode or similar. In any case - the photo compositions
are fine. If you were trying to achieve this effect then that is fine.
I've tried this too and I'm tending now to go for a less processed
look in my images mostly because I've gotten constructive feedback
that it can look a bit overcooked on occasions.

I noticed the event was very overcast. That makes for a challenge
to try to get an even exposure with rider & horse. I would imagine fill flash
might be frowned upon because it would upset highly bred horses
in competition, etc - so maybe there is nothing you can do about
that (i.e lifting the shadows from the riders face beneath his riders
    cap).
