Help identifying CPU

Ok a few years ago I was given a AMD XP processor for my ECS K7S5A. I had a 1.6Ghz CPU before and knew that this one higher. The computer I took it from read it as a 2200+, but when I placed it in my computer it reads as a 2400+ (also in CPUZ), if I change the fsb/memory to 133/133 it reads as a 2200+, at 142/142 however my CPUz reads it as a 2400+, at 100/100 I get "AMD Athlon XP $%@&"???

I'm looking to sell this CPU now and don't want to advertise it as something that its not. Aside from taking the heatsink off and reading the model number is there any other way of finding out the CPUs identity? Can I read directly from the CPU with some program, as CPUz seems to just be reading from the BIOS, which changes depending on the fsb/memory?

Have you tried going into the BIOS and setting it to defaults, then checking what the BIOS says?

Not sure if this'll do the trick..

Surely 142FSB is OC'ing the chip?

Try Belarc adviser, not sure if it'll tell you exactly what you want to know, but it's free and gives all system information, you can download it at:

when I set the BIOS to defaults, it sets the fsb/memory to 100/100, giving me a clock of around 1.34Ghz and a CPUz ID of "AMD Athlon XP $%@&". AFAIR this board had a problem with correctly identifying chips later than 2200+, so I flashed the BIOS to a version that had support for them. I'm just wondering is there a way of directly reading the ID from the chip, or do I always have to go through the BIOS?

since the fsb of 133 would be normal, then the chip is a Amd 2200+.

thanks krazy_8s, I thought that initially. Just wasn't 100% sure.
