Some of you have seen these already, as you were there when they were taken :) but I just felt like posting something, cos Im in that mood ;)

Two very different shots taken over the wkend:

    Simplicity

    Innocence
    208284470_7cd7f8c037.jpg

Both shots have come to mean something to me since the wkend, and I wont bore you with why, but maybe if anyone is in the odd mood Im in they will look that bit closer and see that these subjects have more in common than you first think! Just a little food for thought... anyway... rip the shots to pieces if you like, either way I like em :) Hope you do too :)

For a second there that was a bit of an x-files moment ! that photo of the little girl is very similair to one ali has on photography Ireland forum - then I realised that it was probably the same girl taken at spraoi so that explains that one. Nice pictures - I think the 2nd one is a great conversion - great contrast and tones. Composition is good too.

You are WAY too talented for your own good :) I love the picture of the little girl and the conversion. Pity we didnt get her mother's contact details.
    GO GO BEETLE JUICE. :D

Like the bottom picture best. Works on two levels - nice shot of kid and also works as abstract shape.

Bit they have in common - shapes looks like KC in bottom one and top one has KC added in?

I love your take on it Ali, nicer composition I think. Strange thing is I didnt even see you shooting her as well, I was too busy following her around. I didnt even notice until afterwards! Jay and ry were too busy playing with the water as well :D children eh!

Nice photos, especially the first - although I would have always perceived a
spiders web as being a pretty complex piece of work.

That was the same thing I thought, about the web.

The parallels that I see is something to do with the child being caught up in playing with the water, discovering what it's all about - and I think that in macro photography like the first one there it's about discovering a new world and being like a child again, seeing it for the first time.

Oh dear, far too philosophical for lunchtime I think ;)

Woohoo! Phew elven... I was beginning to think I was going crazy there... yeah same kinda things in my head too.

At the end of the day life is all about discovery, and things that seem really complex at first dont always turn out that way, and vice versa. One could also quote Mr Gump here... :)

I'm attracted to both. The connection I had was of beauty often having a hidden danger. The deadly allure of the web and water. Anyway, interesting thread ;-)

    Nice photography 440Hz.
The second one is very well done because the curve of the fountain/water feature and the outer rim extend to the first third of the photo.
You are getting a nice rule of thirds effect there and the candid pose of the child is very engaging for the viewer (framed as it is by the fountain).

The first one is very nice too. You see a lot of shots of spiders webs
but the shallow DOF effect is very nicely done here and the brownish
backdrop works well for me for some reason.
It is nicely exposed too with the details of the in-focus parts of the web standing out very nicely.
