Ebay problem

    Hey folks,
To keep it simple. I won an item on Monday of last week. I attempted to pay on Monday but kept on getting a paypal error message.

So I tried on Tuesday - no luck. So I messaged the buyer. No reply. I messaged him again.

    No reply.

I have no messaged him 6 times with no reply.

Now, I haven't tried to pay since Tuesday of last week. But his total refusal to answer messages make me highly suspicious that I'll never recieve any goods.

    His feedback is 98% btw.

What should I do? All ebay will say is that I am now obliged to buy the item.

How long has the user been registered with eBay do you know and what is the exact error message? There is nothing you can do only wait. Notify eBay all the same that you have tried paying for the item and that everything is fine on your side.

Have done so Ruu - they just gave me the stock response that I should've asked any questions before the sale and that I am now obligated to buy the item.

I had no problem with this initially - but after ignoring that many messages I think its clear that something is wrong.

And to make it worse - people have left positive feedback just yesterday on this guys feedback page.

I don't know what to do here.

I got his contact details off ebay but I am reluctant to do this - most likely calling the guy in America will end up costing as much as the bloody item!

Any chance of a link to the item?

But at this point the problem is not just payment.

The buyers total refusal to answer any mails makes me think that if I pay I'll recieve sweet F all.

 And I'm loathe to just throw money away like that.

Why would he not answer any messages?

    Either
    A) he is ignoring the messages and I won't recieve the item.
    or
    B) he is not in a position to answer the messages (illness or something) and I still won't recieve the item.

    Either way, I'm screwed.

I've seen in another thread here that the paypal problem is happening to a few people. So that's solvable I suppose.

This is a bit strange, looks like a fine seller but poor customer support. One person mentions his lack of responses in some feedback (on page 2) as well.

So - what would you do?

    Just pay and hope?

    Hi

I recently had a problem paying someone in the UK with Paypal as they were not set up to accept payments made with paypal using mastercard....
They never mentioned that in the description though:mad:
I had to add to my paypal balance and pay using that....
    Might be somefink like that....

    Hope it works out...

    Yeah, that's pretty outrageous!

I don't know what to do. I think I'm going to tell him to stuff it.

I'm going to get non-paying customer feedback though.

Theres one way you can get around this bad feedback.

Basically when you get your bad feedback reply back with bad language in your response. Ebay have to then delete both sides of the message. My friend used to work in ebay before and she advised me to do this in a similar situation....i paid and got my item though so didnt try it myself.

    Fuzzy...

It all got a bit complicated especially as I was pissed off that they blamed me for the paypal issue.
Got my money back so all turned out OK...
They were crap though so now I ask all UK sellers if they can actually take mastercard!!
