McAfee Problems

    Hmmmmmmmmmm.

About a week ago, my McAfee Security Center updated itself. It's a brand spanking new version with a completely different interface. I went through all the menus and configured it so I could browse the net the way I want to. However, I'm having trouble with a number of sites. For example, I can't seem to download anything from Filefront and can't even do an image or video search on altavista, google or yahoo. When I do a search on these sites, the results page loads but all the images/video files are not appearing. I have turned all the parental locks off and allowed cookies but I'm still having the same problems.

Anyone else have McAfee? Anyoe else having similar problems? Or even better, anyone have a solution?

    Thanks in advance.

I would toss McAfee in the bin but thats not really a solution.:) You say you changed the settings to allow cookies and such, was that before or after it updated?

After. I can't bin it (unfortunately) as I have paid for it. I can't even seem to shut it off.

    AAARRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Got rid of it myself with 3 mths subscription left. The best alternatives are free, so its not gonna cost ya any more. Much happier now that its gone. :D

Are you using IE or firefox?
    also
I agree with Ruu about McAfee, like Norton its an expensive resource hog, AVG is pretty good and best of all its free.

I'm using Firefox. I have had McAfee for years and have never had any problems with it. I can only presume that these problems are attributable to it. But I can't even disable it to check. Unless I use the task manager. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

    Uninstall it. Get the following:
    AV: AVG Free
Firewall: Kerio (free for 30 days, then you loose advanced features)
Spyware: Windows defender.....on the windows website
    Ad-aware
    Spybot- search & destroy

You'll be much happier without it. All the above are free.

You might have to remove McAfee manually if you end up doing so, check here.

Contact McAfee and see what they advise. You could also try a different browser in case it is an IE problem.
