    LIVE TOURNEY.....

6 remaining, 4 paid, and I'm on the BB with about 24,000 which is near avg. Blinds 800/1500, 3 limpers, SB completes and I check with Q5 off.

All players are fairly loose (hence all the limping) except SB who's CL with 60,000.

7,500 pot. Flop comes QQ8 rainbow. SB checks.

    Whats your move here?

Not enough info. Can you expect one of them to bet behind you? I like check call on the flop then CRAI on the turn regardless of what falls.

I find you wont get called much here by a weaker hand if you bet out 5K or so even if as you say the players are loose. With the texture of the board i cant see much they will call with. Give them a chance to bet it on the flop and lead the turn if no one bets.

id sometimes raise pf but thats just me being a mental patient...

Bet out 4k just incase its checked around and 9T hits a middler. If the tables fairly loose somebody should look you up with an 8. Be happy when/if everyone folds, the pots not small! If you get raised you'll probably have to lay it down

Yea, I checked...check call/raise was the plan depending on who it was but it was checked round. I was a bit weary of a Q better kicker. Should I have been??

The turn was an A. I checked again hoping someone had one but it was checked right round again. The river brought a 5 (3rd diamond) giving me the house. This time I bet 4,000 and got called by the SB who had the nut flush. Someone asked him why he didn't raise and he went into a big rant on how badly I had played the hand. He said if I'd bet 10,000 he'd have put me all in. I don't think I played it bad though and thats why I'm posting it here.

What should the 4,000 have been or was 4,000 ok??

Well Scotty, with the flush card on the river(that also made your house),Id definately bet at least the pot and sometimes (after all the checks),I would push all-in as if im on a bluff and almost certainly,if someone made a flush on the river(specially the nut flush),your virtually guaranteed a caller.I think you should have made more chips with your hand.Did you go on to win it?

    nah:( 3rd.

Cheers for the feedback though everyone. To be honest I only noticed the 5 and not the fact that it was the 3rd diamond. I see this online a lot where a player makes their hand and bets big to make it look like they don't want a caller. Just inexperience on my part I suppose.

lol, one of my pet hates. im amazed the amount of ppl that think they're the same thing

id go ahead and bet the flop, with 4 ppl in the pot i dont think a free card is an option. i wouldnt be worried about being outkicked with the queen but you have to value bet your hand imo

A set who be when you've got a pair in your hole cards yeah?
never knew there was a differance though I can see know the value change

I would not have bet the flop here, and I do not think I would be too worried about the final Q being out there. I think I would have played the hand the same way, and I would not have bet the pot on the river either, as I want callers, and I do not think you would get a caller often enough there.

I think i would have bet about 5-6K on the turn and hope that someone out there has an Ace. If they don't then fair enough, you probably aren't going to get paid anyway and 8K onto your stack isn't too bad a result either.

had the flop been 55A or 55K or similiar I might have bet here.

As it is you're unlikely to get any value from a bet on this flop. I might have bet 3-4K on the turn hoping for an A or flush draw behind me to call hoping to hit.

On the river, I'd bet 8K if someone is going to call 4 then they'll call 8 just as often.

Translation: Id imagine that a set is when you have a pair in your hand and hit a third of that pair on the flop, am i correct?
i didnt realise there was a difference, but i can see how its value can change.

You dont get paid in a unraised pot very often unless you bet
So i like to lead the turn here and sometimes the flop
if you get action i would look for hands that might call me (like fd ) and if they hit and I am still ahead i bet hard on river
