    Heya all,

Just wondering if there are any "boardies" planning to go here. I was there in 2003 for the first time and took some really nice shots with my compact camera at the time. I hope to get some better results this year with my dSLR :)

Here's some info for those interested:

It's a free event and as the name suggests in Phoenix Park. It's this weekend! :D

There's a few Boards heads from the motorsport board heading to it. In fact there's a few of us (myself included) competing.

God I envy you!!! I love motorracing...wish I could afford it to race myself :(. But best I can afford is racing PC Race Simulators with a decent force feedback steering wheel ;). Back in Holland I even had a complete racing cockpit set up to race in, but it was too big to bring along

Brian, cool, I probably go both days but depending on the weather as well as I'll have to go by bicycle. Text me (sms) if you're there, we could meet up :).

what time does the action start -- which day should be better Sat or Sun ?

thebaz read the website link it gives the timetable of the races, there are races on both days so they both should be good and it is free.

Heffsarmy ,I was a little cofused at the time table ,it seems the first few cars have two times up to about 11.30am or so .
Does this mean the first time of the two times is a practice run or do the races start at 9.30 am ??

    Sorry
    Brian.

Is there some kind of display of the cars on Friday night when you can have a nosy at them?

Depending on work I will try and head along to that too - wont know for sure if I can make it till friday though.

The timetable gives you the practice and race times. Eleven I was there 2 or 3 years ago and was able to get close to all the cars on the saturday and sunday, I had my nephews sitting in most of the cars. Just stick a long lens on your camera and the marshalls will generally let you go most places without any hassle.

I'm usually in that part of the city some time over the weekend so I'll try to check it out. Out of town on Friday night so I think Sunday's more likely.

It was the 'scrutiny' section on the timetable that caught my eye.

But...are they going to have those annoying women draped all over them, getting in the way of a good picture of a nice car?

    ;)

You can get close enough to the cars to take nice pictures of them. There will be some of those "annoying women" around, but they hardly get in the way :D.

Unfortunately there are no F1 cars this year 'round and I was kinda hoping the A1GP Team Ireland team would be there for a demo, but there should still be plenty of pretty cars around waiting to have their pictures taken

Who's up here today then? Just about to go make myself look human, and head up...

I should be there for 12 or so ,want to try and get some shots of the F1 car before the hoards come down on it.
Oh my head is killing me :(

I wanted to go both days, but in all fairness I took more than enough shots yesterday already to keep me busy (in addition to the pictures from Holland I'm still editing!) :D Also needing an hour to cycle to get there isn't really helping :D
It's worth going there though for photographer enthousiasts, even if you're not really into motorsports yourself. Next year I'll bring a monopod though and maybe try to get a photographers pass
