Everglades Alligator & Dogs

    Dogs savage Everglades alligator.

At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even
a certain justice manifested within that cruelty.
The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally
considered the "apex predator" in it's natural ecosystem, can still
fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due to the
tight knit social structure and "survival of the fittest pack mentality",
bred into the canines over the last several hundreds of years by natural
    selection.

See the attached remarkable photograph courtesy of Nature Magazine.

Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the Gator preventing it
from breathing, while the remainder of the pack prevents the beast from
    rolling.

One of my Fiance's dogs was eaten by an alligator last month. He was on the phone to his mother in Florida ( lives in everglades) and she told him that she heard the dog scream and when she ran out to see what was wrong it was too late, the poor thing was gone :(
He now wants to seek revenge on the alligator, apparently it's legal to hunt them now in Florida because there are so many, he's already describing how his new alligator skin boots will look. I just smile and nod.......

They're horrible f**king things, and snakes too, I really wonder what purpose they really are. I can't for the life of me understand how anyone would want to have a snake as a pet.
