Tight scrotum

I'm a registered member of boards but had to log out to post this as I find it a pretty embarassing problem.

I've just gone 20 and although have never had a serious girlfriend I am sexually active. My testicles seem to be around the average size, maybe slightly smaller but that's not the problem. My problem is that my scrotum tissue is really tight almost all day. In a bath or shower its fine and my testicles hang free. Watching TV in a warm room would sometimes be fine. When I'm walking or running outdoors they're at their worst and pretty uncomfortable.

I feel so confident when they are hanging properly but its a rare occasion. It's not just the scrotum, the penis would be shrivelled whenever my scrotum is tight.

The average man's private parts when outdoors on a freezing cold night would be the equivalent of me on an average day.
The average man socialising would be the equivalent of mine when I'm in the bath. :)
While most men would be perfectly fine at 20 degrees, it seems my scrotum needs to be at a much higher temperature before I see the real bloody thing.

This has been a problem since I can remember. It's not something I'd ever consider going to the GP about. I know my GP personally and I would feel way too uncomfortable asking about something like that (something like a lump on a testicle is a different matter though). You'd have to know the GP to understand why. :)

Anyway, is this a common problem and is there anything I could do about it? I just feel so much more comfortable after getting out of the bath and can only imagine what it's like to be that 24/7. I might even have the balls to use the urinals (excuse the pun). ;)
The epididymis and the testicles hang in a pouch-like structure outside the pelvis called the scrotum. This bag of skin helps to regulate the temperature of testicles, which need to be kept cooler than body temperature to produce sperm. The scrotum changes size to maintain the right temperature. When the body is cold, the scrotum shrinks and becomes tighter to hold in body heat. When it's warm, the scrotum becomes larger and more floppy to get rid of extra heat. This happens without a guy ever having to think about it. The brain and the nervous system give the scrotum the cue to change size.

Would you consider going to another GP, whom you dont know?

Just go to another doctor and have it looked at OP. Really your other doctor could care less and will probably just send you to a specialist of that field. :) Good luck.

It's actually very common and it's not considered a problem unless your testicals are fully retracted into the prescrotal area.

Personally, i'd prefer to have a tighter than average scrotum to a looser one.
I've seen guys that look like they're carrying a pair of limes in a plastic bag. It aint pleasant. ;)

Anyway, as I've said it's quite common, but if it's causing you discomfort go speak to a GP.
