I got mine on ebay, the seller claims they are worth 400pound, but i don't really believe that, they are very sharp though and do my slicing of carrot etc just fine.
as for them being serious they do give off a serious stare.

Try searching Rec > Food & Drink > Cooking / Recipes, if you can get the search to work.
Maybe if this thread was moved there you might get more responses.

I got a set of Global knives off eBay about 2 years ago.
The seller I got my knives from is no longer registered but a quick search turned up this auction.

The set I got had a fold up pack for all the knives but you can buy a case like this seperately !

I have a serious set that I want to sell, never used, still in their original covering, they are made by Rosenbaum, are guaranteed for 10 years and come in a leather briefcase. They price is on them of 720 euro but I would be able to negotiate with you if you're interested. It's a 24 piece set and they are guaranteed for 10 years, pm me if interested, I'm based in Dublin and in the South-East too, I can meet up with you so you can take a look at them if you wish, they are very nice though.

As somebody else said, rather than looking for a set, just get the a few really good quality ones that will cover almost all your needs starting with a large chefs knife, small kitchen knife, and veg paring knife. Most people will never really need things like a filleting knife for example, and I remain to be convinced of the need for an expensive bread knife. As for a chopper, they're not the most subtle of cutting implements, so take yourself off to the nearest asian grocery and pick up a cheap one.

Thanks guys I might try the ebay route...
johnnysmurfman I thought any really good set of knives would have a lifetime guarantee ?
10 years seems a bit odd..
