Does anyone know what happened to the Aer Lingus, Dublin to Liverpool route?

It doesn't seem to be offered anymore on their website and I can't find any press releases or anything through a google search...

I'm planning some trips over to liverpool to see my beloved toffees and I hate ryanair.... It looks like it could by my only option!

Anyone hear of the route cancellation by Aer Lingus?

I hadn't thought of that... I presume that there are good rail links between the 2 cities...

Anyone on boards done this before?

Not being smart but get over it! You'll be in the air for 20 mins max.

Aerlingus offered one flight a day in both directions. If the service has been pulled it didn't last too long as it only reopened in Ocotber 04 after 14 years of no service.

Train is 1 hour from Manchester Airport to Lime Street cost 10 sterling one way.

Bus from Manchester Airport is around 50 mins cost 10 sterling return.

It probely got pulled because Ryanair forced them off the route making it unprofitible for them. As whay other posters said Manchester Airport is only an hour away. To me theres not much diffrece between EI and Ryanair anymore they both chrage for luggage and food so no big swing there for a 20 min flight.

How would Ryanair have forced them off the route? Surely they did their research when entering the route 20 months ago. I'm a regular user of that route with Ryanair. In the last 20 months they have not increased the number of flights or reduced their prices. I've a felling it's not down to Ryanair.

There's also the option of taking a ferry, I think P&O run ferries between Dublin Port and Liverpool. It's easy to forget that there's other (often cheaper) options to flying.

The P&O ferry is a long crossing,I think its 7/8 hours. There is a fast ferry that runs between Dub and Liv but it only operates between May and October,I have not taken this in a few years but its a nice crossing think about 4 hours.

Doing it the 23rd Sept for Liverpool-Spurs at Anfield.

Here's a map of the rail connections from Manchester Airport MAP

I've flown to Manchester for Spurs away to Wigan and Bolton, and one particularly long day trip to Boro (home through Newcastle)

As you can see from the map, Blackpool's another option for Liverpool if you're staying over, and if you're really stuck try Leeds Bradford. They're both Ryanair routes though.

Well it was more the fact that you had a choice. Aer Lingus offered different times to ryanair.

Most of the times that I checked for flights with ryanair, same day return wasn't possible as the last flight was at 5pm or something like that. They seem to be doing a later flight now at 930 pm.

I know its only 20 mins, but at late notice for match tickets and flight prices are high due to the budget airline system, if you had 2 choices, you obviously go for the cheaper one.
