    The Linkage http://roseoftralee.ie/catalog/

    The Official Line:
    The 2006 Rose of Tralee International Festival promises to be five days of fun, spectacle & glamour. The streets of Tralee will ignite with concerts, band recitals and street performers. This year's parade - organised by carnival costume & float creators, Artastic - promises to be the biggest to date, with bands from all over Ireland. Come and witness the greatest free show on earth and party under the spectacular street lighting by night. It's a festival for all ages with Rose Parades, Birds Amusements, Céile on the Street, Firework Displays, Mary Black, Tabby, Republic of Loose, Lucia Evans, Newbridge Fashion Show and much, much more.

    The real take:
    Right all.... Friday 18th August - Tuesday 22nd, Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland, the World... yada yada yada

    Right for anyone who doenst know, this is great craic. The Rose selection happens on the Monday and Tuesday (ie 21/22). The parade on the Friday night. General craic on Saturday, Roses in the Park on Sunday (great photo opps), Selections on Mon, Tues, and then fireworks and 'Midnight Madness' on Tuesday. Tis a great few days. Problem being that the best nights are always Mon and Tues when people are working. The Dome is too much fun to miss, and plenty of street drinking, oh I mean entertainment.

    Under diff circumstances I would be as hospitable as Al and let half the board stay in my gaf, but turns out that my house is packed out that wkend already. Normally Im the only one home for it, but family are coming round to laugh at me getting older this year. There are loads of acc. options though, with the best ones being Townhouses will are in the center and very reasonably prices for a crowd over the few days. If anyone is up for coming down I can check all that out... depending on what days, numbers etc. anyway sin é ~

    I stayed in those townhouses many a year ago, they're grand like. Short walk from the town too! I think I might be off that Sat/Sun/Mon, if I am, I'll be there!

    Hmmmm right... well seems that all acc. is almost booked out for this, rang around a few places yesterday. All that seems to be left are self-catering apts (which include net connections eh eh). Pricey for Tralee though, and can only be booked for a week. Different rates for July and August with the change over happening on the 17th of the month ie if you book to stay on the 17th twil be cheaper.

    -> 17th
    4 single + 1 twin for €530 pw
    6 single for €560 pw

    after the 17th that goes up to
    €640 for 4 room and €670 for 6 room.

    Tis reasonable enough I guess if you think that booking before the 17th means you get a 6bed house with internet for €90 each per week. But you wont want to be there for the whole week so...

    Anyway thats the info. Ill see what the family members are at, see if I cant muster up some floor space even.
