I am looking for musicians - alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, keyboards (an ability to read tricky chords or read music is crucial)- who are interested in joining me in a big band that will perform to raise money for charity. All profits will go to charity after overheads have been paid, this will include a small basic payment for the big band musicians for their time. The emphasis however is on the social experience and enjoying playing in a big band whilst giving to those who are needy. The project will be based in Newbridge Co. Kildare which is easily accessible by road, rail and bus. If you are interested in giving your time in a worthwhile way please reply!

    where are you based?

this is not easy stuff! (please....this is not to be taken as an offense!)

The main idea is that there will be either one or two performances in Summer 2007. The performance will have a theme. The theme for Summer 2007 is "latin jazz" music for example tito puente, mambo kings, herbie hancock, stan kenton etc. the next could be the music of Gershwin or cult TV themes. This material will be difficult to play, not only a guitar part (mainly chord charts with rhythmic cues and notation) but as an ensemble, but should be fun! rehersals for at least the first three to four months will be concentrating on the rhythm section alone (piano, guitar, bass, drums and percussion).

Do you know of any piano player friends who would be interested in such a challenge?

I'd be interested in doing bass for it perhaps.

What kind of bass do you play - electric or upright (double bass?)

What standard are the tenor parts? Grade 6/7/8 for e.g? Sounds interesting but seen as though you're stressing how difficult they are I don't know if I'd be up to it yet!

Mainly electric but I just got myself an upright so if your talking about next summer then I'm sure I'd be up to speed.
