How come that is on ebay? Would it be in the outlet store also?

Probably not, they have an ebay store online where they sell outlet stuff aswell, generally goes for cheaper than on offical dell website too...

that lappys grand providing youre not intending on doing any type of serious gaming.

yeah don't think ill be doing much gaming at all on it. some light multimedia work, mainly involving photos, watching and burning dvds, the usual college coursework etc. mobility is important for lugging to the library and all that.

i'll probably go for it, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it.

it just lacks graphics and a memory card reader, which would have been nice

I've been looking at that, seems a bit better than the Dell and is cheaper.

yeah i like the sound of that.
    widescreen, graphics and card reader

i would like smaller than 15.4" though
and battery's not too great, 2.5hrs.
that'd put me off a bit

i'll have to give it some more thought

yeh also check out the computer from mesh i posted under great offer or something just a few threads below
little dearer but an unbelievable spec for the price. The Dell rival costs over 500euro more

    Asus A6T

i was thinking of getting the same laptop. Outlet have some nice deals for much cheaper.

i was expecting outlet to be cheaper to be honest, but some good stuff there all right. i was a bit too picky though and outlet didn't have the exact specs i wanted.

i ordered an inspiron 6400 in the end yesterday. slightly cheaper than the 640m i picked out. it has a larger screen which i didn't really want, but has a graphics card and a slightly faster processor.

of course if i was that picky i would have went to the effort to find some great non-dell lappy

What's a memory card reader, excuse my ignorance! I use a usb memory stick, I wouldn't need a memory card reader for that, would I?

it's just something used to read photos and stuff from a digital camera's memory card.
you'll be able to use your usb memory stick no problems without one.
