    Here's one for you.

    I don't seem to be able to get a difinitive answer on this one.

    Player A makes a bet on the flop. Player B moves all in. Player A thinks about calling. Player B calls the clock. Player A is given time and then a ten second count down. The floor person counts down 10, 9 , 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
    Player A says "Call" immediately.
    He is told his hand is dead.

    Is this correct or not?

    incorrect, i would imagine that he has the one second from 1 to 0 left?

    Does he say call on '1' or one second after '1' has been said?

    It should really be "10, 9, ... , 1, 0 , you either say call now or your hand is dead."

    I Would have allowed the call , if i have not had the time to say your hand is dead ... Foolish play out of the player to leave it so close to the end , Dealer would be instructed to take cards in at the end of the clock also ....

    A fraction of a second is a bit harsh on the player .... A tournament director should have been standing over the table also and allowed the call as it would have been to hard a situation to walk over to after ........

    The countdown should end with the word fold. 3, 2, 1, fold. if the player said call before the director reached the end of the countdown then the call stands

    It seems like we all agree... But according to Harry Demetriou this is what happened with 300 players left in the WSOP:

    A player goes all in and then calls a clock on another player who is contemplating whether or not to call.

    The floor person counts down until he gets to the final few seconds.

    Floor person: 3....2.....1

    Player says: I Call

    Floor person: Your hand is dead.

    Player: Can you call a supervisor.

    Supervisor comes over and asks dealer and floor person and other players what happened and it is confirmed that the rule is floor person has to say 3...2...1...your hand is dead before the player says I call for the hand to be dead but still upholds the floor persons decision regardless of the fact that everyone agrees player said I call before the floor person says the hand is dead.

    Then this happened to Vicky Coren in the $1500 NLHE event at the WSOP.

    I was down to 475 chips which the blinds at 50-100. I found a pair of nines and moved all in. There were two callers, both of whom had chips left over (though not thousands; their position is precarious at this early stage of the tournament, when the starting chips weren't huge. Neither of them can afford to lose a big pot, should it develop).
    The flop comes rags. They both check. On the turn, the second caller says "We should really check this down", and the first caller says something like "OK", and they turn their hands over! I sort of squeaked, "You can't do that! I'm all in!". The dealer didn't say anything. He simply dealt the river card (a queen), and the second caller (who had AQ) wins the pot.
    I called for a floor. The ruling was that the action stands, but both the players get a ten minute penalty. I said "That doesn't help me - I've been knocked out!". If the hands were declared dead, I treble up. With this ruling, I say goodbye to $1500 - what do I care if they're punished afterwards? We were three minutes from a break anyway.
    The floor said I would have been out anyway, but that isn't the point at all. I'm quite certain there was no pre-arranged plan between these two players - they must be fairly inexperienced to do such a thing so obviously, I'm sure they had no idea it wasn't allowed - but it IS collusion, whether they intend it to be or not. It's one thing to check quickly or in the dark (with a player all in) in a way which implies that it's best to check it down - but it's quite another to verbally declare that, and show the hands as if the betting is all over. And I think hands must be declared dead in that second situation, because action has been affected. And it's all the more important because - however innocent the parties - players must be protected from theoretical situations where it might be done more deliberately. As for the ten-minute penalty, I'm glad it was imposed because at least it makes the point that what happened is not acceptable, but that still doesn't give the all-in player any protection. You can't eat "not acceptable"... !

    It helps if you have an American accent IMO.

    In a satellite over there a few years ago the dealer said I checked, when I reached to my chips (gesture). A player whispered to me it was because I was European.
