If i want to back the favourite in a race using boyles sports website there is an option for 1st favourite rather than clicking on the horses name itself. Are the odds the same?

The odds will be whatever price the favourite is at SP (starting price)
i.e. the price as the race starts.

You cant take an early price on 'Fav', as the prices can change, and a different horse could go favourite by the time the race goes off.

So by doing this, you are basically saying " Im going to blindly back whatever horse is the favourite, at whatever price he goes off" which would probably not be a good idea long term.

cheers for the reply. Another quick one! What if i was to blindly back "the favourite" but it turns out on starting the race that there are 2 jt favs. HOw do the odds turn out then?

Your bet is split between the number of favs.

if there are 2 jfavs, then half your stake would be bet on whatever price it comes in at.
    good luck

Well to be exact it's the price it goes off at, not comes in at.

Im not being cheeky here or anything, but I hope that you realise blindly backing the favourite shows a substantial loss long term. Why not have a read through the form and try to select your own? It's much more fun when it wins :)

I was under the impression that in some bookmakers, in the situation of multiple favourites, the bet is actually on the horse with the lowest racecard number. But I may be mistaken.
