i bought a lcd television while i was on holiday in France-it is branded Bluesky-made in Turkey-i suspect it may be a Beko brand. switched it on yesterday and no sound. I have tried every angle I can think of but still no joy. Anyone any suggestions.

Hmm, because it's French, the sound standards are different.

However, many TV's allow the standards to be changed.

Look into the Tuning menu, and see if you can change the System to PAL I. There are usually a few options like PAL D/K, PAL I, etc and the one that works here is PAL I.

byte-thanks for that-I should have pointed out that it has worked perfectly for two months-there is no sound coming from the earphone socket on it either which makes me think it is a software glitch.

Hmm. Assuming you've disconnected from mains etc to no avail, and TV is already set to PAL I, I guess there is a fault. Possibly an Audio IC fault or maybe corrupt memory as you say.
