went for an interview the other day - got the job ;)

    a few I was asked:

Example of a time I used iniative

An unpleasant experience I had to deal with at a previous job (ie: dealing with an irate customer)

what do you know about the company?

Your weaknesses? (I actually didn't get asked this one...thank ****!)

What are the elements you look for in people you are in a team with?

    They're a few I can remeber.

There are two sticky's at the top of Work / Jobs forum with this kind of information. If I remember correctly there is a thread linked to from one of them where WWM goes through a load of questions that could be asked in an interview.

The irate customer one always seems to come up, and how you handled it. Since I don't get any, this one is usually a hard one for me :(

    .

That's the kind of question you'd only be asked by someone who hasn't a clue how to interview. It's a pointless question.

I think I was only ever asked it once, for a sh*tty job in PC World when i was in college :)

Not true! The interviewer asks it to see how the person reacts. If they have prepared for an interview, they will be able to give a well thought out reply. If they havent prepared, then they will stutter.
Its not the actual answer that matters, it is the reaction. But it is no harm to say something like I was weak on X but am now striving to imprve it by doing whatever

So the only purpose to the question is to assess whether or not the interviewee has practiced answers to said pointless question?
Why not just ask "So how have you prepared for this interview?"
