Well you have two choices there really. The Zen or the nano. It just depends on whether you want something to hold all your music or something that's ultra portable. I rule the iPod video out btw because it can be compared like with like with the Zen, but the Zen beats it hands down in most areas.

I think there are a couple of questions you need to ask yourself . .

    1. How important is video capability ?
    2. How important is FM radio capability ?
    3. How important is it that you store all of your music on the unit ?
    4. Are you looking for the best quality sound and the longest battery life?

If the answer to either 1 or 2 is Yes, then its a no-brainer; the Creative Vision:M is definitely the unit to buy..

If not, then the ipod is definitely a nicer looking unit with a fantastic user interface and you really just need to decide if you want all of your music or if you are happy chopping and changing. . .

I posed question 4 becaue I wondered if you had considered the Cowon iaudio X5L. . . Widely recognised as delivering the best sound output with a 30 hour battery life. . . but its bigger, bulkier and the user interface is annoying . .

btw, if thinking of the nano, rumour has it that its about to get a little facelift so you might want to hold fire for a couple of weeks.

If u want something small and "cute" like the nano get this instead, its like the nano only a bigger screen a whopping 35 hours of playback and well I personally hate that clickwhell but that's just me, O ya the player................

Id go for the iPod Video or Zen. Personally id go for the iPod, but alot of people seem to prefer the Zens. IMO it looks better and is alot easier to use, the only downside is not having an FM radio, which I wasnt in to anyway

Either way, go for the bigger screen

I'd get the Creative Vision M, it's only 20 quid past yer budget, xtravision have them for €319 http://xtravision.ie/xvElectrical.asp?id=358

............and you will more than likely get 50 quid of rental vouchers so yer really only payin €269

PS. I don't work for XtraVision

Just to balance it out a bit, Peats also have it for €319 (link), as do Harvey Norman.

Thanks a million for all the help - I've actually got a friend whose in the States for the summer so he's bringing me back a Creative as a favour. I love the radio so it's probably the best option for me.

    Thanks again.
