PC takes ages to start up

Hey, when I boot my PC it starts on the EPoX screen and takes about 5 minutes to go on to the next Windows Loading screen. It usually just flew through all these screens but is there any reason why it now takes so long to boot up. It's like it's stuck on the screen for a while.

    Any help much appreciated.

Some system details would be nice. :) CPU speed, RAM, OS (I'm assuming XP).

I think that if you press tab it will take the epox screen off?Or it can be done in bios i think.Problem hanging on the hard drives etc detection,But do this and it should show you.

    Regards,

AMD Athlon 64 2.4, 1024 RAM. Windows XP Pro.

Nothing happens on the screen when any buttons are pressed.

    Thanks Guys.:)

Sounds like quick boot was disabled in bios.

What kmb said, it's usually detecting all devices then. go into setups and see do you have any devices turned on that should'nt be. IE a secondary or primary hd when you're using sata.

Sounds like its looking for something, tbh. If I have my USB-IDE cable plugged in, with no IDE HDD connected, it takes an age to boot up. May be something similair. Remove any HDD's lately?
