THe strange this is if i put music from my library onto my ipod it thern plays nortmally asgain. Any ideas on what caused it and how I can fix it? Is it just songs ripped on to the hard disk or does audio from CD&DVD work too?
When did it start to happen?

Try re-installing the driver from device manager.
(Start->Run-> devmgmt.msc -> 'Sound, video and game controllers -> identify and right-click on the soundcard - uninstall - "Scan for hardware changes" (Up top))

Yes, audio CD's play properly, its only affects music saved onto my harddrive. I though it might have been just a settings issue but couldn't find anything out of the ordinary there.
