    Hey,
just wondering if anyone knows a way of doing what i want here:

I have a dvd iso of the installation disc for an operating system, but i have no dvd burner, so what i was thinking of doing was to put the hard drive i want to install it onto in a usb enclosure, mount the iso image as a virtual drive, and somehow run the installation while the drive is mounted and install onto the usb drive?

However, this wont work, since to install an o/s you normally need to boot from a cd or dvd drive, anyone have any suggestions on how i could accomplish this?

feel free to ask for a better explanation if you dont understand what i mean, it's hard to explain clearly.

Extract the contents of the dvd with Isobuster.

    irlrobins: it's os X

esquier: reading the contents of the dvd arent a problem, i can mount it as a virtual drive under windows using alcohol 120%

basically what i need to do is run the installation while windows is running, or possible find a way to boot from the iso image some other way

i was thinking of maybe mounting the image on another machine, and booting over a network connection

I'm not 100% sure about legality of this action. So locking thread until I look into it further. PM me any queries.
