My brother in law is thinking of buying his first house and wants to get a survey before going any further.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks

Roughly where in Dublin is the house he's looking at?

I was recommended these by friends http://www.patmcgovern.ie/index.htm and http://www.surveyingsolutions.ie/ but didn't use them in the end, went with the guy the broker recommended and wouldn't recommend him! Also, you can get the surveyor to do the bank evaluation and property survey at the same time (cheaper if done together), you just need to check that they are on the panel of the bank from which he is getting the mortgage from.
